My Newest Little Sister - Besa (Kiss in Spanish)
Well, not only has my pack moved to New Mexico, we also have a new addition to the family, and is she a cutie. Besa is a New Mexico born and bred Border Collie! Guess, Sombra will be happy to have a true protégé. Besa or “Bee” as Momma and Daddy call her is about 4 months old, has cute white markings on her nose and leggies, and has the cutest crooked tail with just a tip of white on it.
Besa loves to chew on everything, much to our humans’ frustration…but she is just a puppy and that is what puppies do. The other thing Besa does, much to my frustration, is clean her tennis ball off in our water bucket. She will play with the ball and get it covered in slobber and dirt then drop it in the water bucket and bob for it like you would for apples at Halloween. This is actually really smart on her part, but then the water is all yucky, and I don’t like to drink it when it is all yucky. Momma puts clean water out each morning, and when she comes home at the end of the day, well, you get the idea. YUCK!!!
Besa and I play all the time. Hee Hee - finally a sister who loves to play with me and has figured out how to play with me. I can’t chase her so she runs around and comes back to me when we are playing. Momma calls our playing ‘bitty bitston’…whatever that means… Hee Hee.
Besa will be my eyes and ears and Zannie’s ears once Sombra crosses the rainbow bridge. We hope that won’t be for several more years. But, as we all know dogs just don’t live that long. Sombra will be 13 in March and our humans know that she won’t be here forever so they wanted to have the pack knowledge that Sombra carries passed down to Besa. Kinda makes me sad, but it is good that our humans have thought about this…it is also good for us because we need a sharp pair of ears and a clear pair of eyes. Although I’m not sure I should be as worried about the wheel barrow as she indicated I should be this morning…
As for the move, we are now living in New Mexico. Momma got a new job and is very happy to be back with the Federal Goverment. We have a huge backyard and even an irrigation ditch to play in on hot days. I love all the new smells and have had fun barking at new critters like raccoons and skunks that cruise around at night while we are sleeping in the house.
Well, I had better go as I’ve got some ‘rough housing’ to do with Bee. Hope your Holidays are blessed with family, good food, lots of love, and hope for the future.
